Excursions

A special excursion programme has been arranged for the duration of the Congress. Pre-purchased tickets for accompanying persons have been enclosed in the congress material. Subject to availability, additional accompanying persons may register at the Excursion Desk.

IMPORTANT:

Tours depart from and return to the Amsterdam RAI Congress Centre. Other departure points than the RAI will be mentioned on your ticket.
Tours are accompanied by multilingual guides.
A limited number of tickets for each tour may be available at the Social Registration Desk during the congress.
Tickets are not reimbursable if, after having purchased, you cannot or have not taken part in one of these tours.
Lunch is included only when stated.
Tours are subject to cancellation if there is insufficient interest.

Tour 1

CITY TOUR AMSTERDAM (incl. a visit to the ROYAL PALACE)

The capital of the Netherlands will be introduced to you during an extensive panoramic city tour by coach, departing from the RAI. A visit will be paid to a traditional diamond factory and to the beautiful Royal palace of Amsterdam.
The Royal Palace was built in the 17th century as the new city hall of Amsterdam and the power and wealth of the city of Amsterdam of those days are reflected in the building and its interior design. When King Louis Napoleon came to Amsterdam in 1808 he had the city hall turned into a royal palace. The large collection of Empire style furniture, chandeliers and clocks dates from this period.

Tour 2

BICYCLE TOUR Waterland and countryside (distance appr. 40km)

In 5 minutes we take you out of town into the lovely and famous Dutch countryside. You will cycle on top of numerous dykes as well as on the bottom of reclaimed land, 15 feet below sea level.
Your guide will provide extensive information about the never ending struggle against the water and how the Dutch conquered the sea. We will stop for lunch in a authentic Dutch pancake house.

All other tours mentioned in the second announcement have been cancelled due to lack of interest.
